What Is a Freelance Marketer?

According to, A Freelance Marketer is a self-employed individual who creates and implements marketing campaigns, channels, strategies, and related tasks for their clients. Unless you have been living under a rock, Marketing is more than the commercial you see during the Superbowl. Most people no longer watch commercials or read magazines. How Do I Become A Successful Freelance Digital Marketer?

As I mentioned before, Freelance Marketers and Freelance Digital Marketers are interchangeable. A successful Freelance Digital Marketer should have experience in all four types of Digital Marketing:

  • Social Media Marketing: Promoting your client’s site or brand via all the social media channels
  • SEO: Make sure that your client’s website or blog’s content is optimized naturally for all the different search engines to locate and promote using Search Engine Optimization.
  • Content Marketing: Every company, Business, Brand, and or E-Commerce site will have a website, blog, or social media channel to offer content that doesn’t always generate a sale. Offering free and helpful information is the best way to build a relationship with your audience.
  • Pay Per Click: When you search for a product or service on Google, the first results are usually paid results. I would make sure you are well versed in the first three types of digital marketing before using Pay Per Click. However, some clients may have the budget and can afford Pay Per Click. If you are freelancing for a client showing a good ROI is essential.
