Here’s how it works: You apply for a job, just like normal, by submitting a resume and filling out an application. As mentioned earlier, the AI interview is the first barrier to entry before you can meet with a hiring manager. Once you’ve submitted your resume and application, you’ll typically receive an email invitation to complete the AI interview. In some cases, a link may appear immediately after you submit your application, directing you to begin the video interview.  

After clicking the link, you’ll enter a virtual interview room where you’ll be prompted to test your video and audio. Once everything is set up, you’ll either see an AI-generated interviewer, hear an automated voice, or be presented with pre-recorded questions. Your responses will be recorded over video, and as you speak, the AI will analyze your tone of voice, facial expressions, and vocabulary.  

Once you complete the interview, the AI automatically scores your responses based on how well they align with the job description and required qualifications. If you receive a high enough score, you can expect to be contacted via email or phone for the next stage of the hiring process.

How to Prepare for the AI Job Interview?

If you haven’t interviewed for a job in a while or have never prepared for an AI interview it will require extra practice. Unlike a traditional interview, where a human can pick up on small talk or adjust to your personality, AI analyzes your responses based on structure, clarity, and relevance.  

Your answers must sound natural, structured, and straight to the point. For example, if asked to describe a time when you had to meet a deadline at work, use the **STAR method** (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to organize your response.  

While answering, maintain eye contact with the camera, stay calm, and speak confidently. Since AI evaluates your overall communication style, body language, and tone, it’s essential to come across as professional yet authentic.  

You’ll also have the chance to highlight your skills and experience. Focus on skills that directly relate to the job description. If possible, practice with mock AI interviews beforehand to get comfortable with the format and refine your responses.
